When it comes to exercising and fitness just knowing where to start can leave you feeling exhausted! Even getting yourself down your local gym has probably left you confused after taking in all that space age looking equipment. It’s very unlikely that any gym would expect you to head straight out onto their equipment. You’ll get an introduction which will show you what equipment to use to get the results you want to and exactly how to use them. However here are just a few of the more common machines you’ll probably be using on a regular basis.
The vibration trainer may seem like a new ‘too good to be true’ piece of equipment. It works by exposing the body to dozens of vibrations per second which cause the muscle to involuntary contract and relax each time. As the muscles get tones, the vibrations also increase the bone density too. Vibration training Blood circulation is also improved with regular exposure to vibration training. These machines have become increasingly popular because they don’t actually require a vast amount of physical activity but the results are better when they’re used whilst exercising.
One of the most common machines you’re going to come across at the gym is the treadmill. In reality getting up and actually being able to go outside for a long run is not always that straightforward. The chances are you’ll probably feel safer on a treadmill, especially if it’s dark outside. The treadmill is simple and easy to use with settings to suit all levels. Your whole body will get a good cardiovascular workout but the treadmill is primarily designed to build and tone your leg muscles.
Another common piece of fitness equipment you’ll want to consider for your new workout routine is the exercise bike. Because they don’t need to have any electrical parts, exercise bikes have always been one of the cheaper pieces of exercise equipment. As a result they’re often seen in people’s homes being used a clothes horse. They are in fact one of the best pieces of exercise equipment if you’re just starting a new workout regime. They put the body under very little stress and pressure and introduce you slowly to regular exercise. Recumbent bikes are bikes that provide back support and you peddle almost in a lying down position. Exercise bikes mean there’s no impact stress on the joints which is another reason its so popular with beginners.
Before you start your new exercise routine it’s advisable to talk to a professional who will be able to give you some advice. Only use equipment after you’ve received professional advice and listen to what they have to say. It’s also important to listen to your own body too. It’s equally important to warm up and warm down after any exercise.
